(Pachodo.org) - God created all humans with the same desire for success, peace, and a happy life. But desire alone guarantees nothing. The difference between those who succeed and those who fail is intelligence.
Intelligence turns ambition into achievement. Without it, even the most powerful dreams collapse.
Webster’s New World Dictionary defines intelligence as “the ability to respond quickly and successfully to a new situation.” That _ability_ is the key difference between leading and losing.
An intelligent person refuses to be trapped by the past or seduced by the present. They live today with tomorrow in full view. Every challenge becomes fuel. Every decision is weighed against the future they are building — not only on this earth, but also for the life they believe follows death. Intelligence demands discipline. It demands that you plan, not gamble, with your resources. The present is not just a moment to survive. It is the raw material for a positive future and a lasting legacy.
That is why intelligent people do not struggle only for money, status, or titles. They struggle for peace, with happiness as their goal. They work to ensure their families and communities are more peaceful, their societies happier, and the world around them better for all.
Intelligent people do not hoard success. They invest it. They measure life not by what they own, but by what they improve — the peace and happiness they create for others. For intelligent people, true success is never counted in bank accounts or titles. It is counted in lives changed and futures secured.
This makes intelligence the foundation of quality. It is the force that turns position into purpose.
In Africa, the pattern of history is clear. Leaders like Mobutu Sese Seko, Idi Amin, and Omar al-Bashir climbed to the highest office on earth: the presidency. For a moment, the world called them successful. But they lacked the intelligence to lead beyond themselves. They chose fear over foresight, power over peace, wealth over people. And so they fell. History now remembers them as failed leaders, and their examples stand as a warning to any current leader who lacks intelligence.
Without intelligence, power is a loan you cannot repay. You may gain everything and still end with nothing — only regrets, unrest, and an unhappy life.
South Sudan proves the same truth today. We had leaders brave enough to fight for and win independence. But lacking the intelligence to govern for tomorrow, they are now seen as failed leaders. Their promise to deliver us a nation is unravelling, and the country edges toward failure. They have forgotten that military victory in liberation cannot substitute for intelligent governance. Those who once carried flags of hope now face legacies of crisis and regret.
Until leaders treat intelligence as a prerequisite for power, many will keep ascending to office and failing to govern. History will end badly for them.
Leadership without intelligence is not leadership. It is a countdown. Real success demands more than strength. It demands vision, discipline, courage, and the intelligence to serve something greater than yourself.
Leaders who fail to choose intelligence must be prepared to be forgotten by the nation they failed to build. They should be prepared to be remembered by history as leaders who let the country down — a verdict that will haunt their offspring for generations.
