Fashoda Youth Forum (FYF) is an initiative of citizens of the Upper Nile State who have come together in a conscious effort to address some of the underlying causes of the regions chronic underdevelopment to enhance economic empowerment of the communities.
FYF seeks to translate into action the policies of the SPLM/A in the field of economic and social rehabilitation, development and building of democratic structures and capacity of the groups. FYF makes a difference through its positive impact on sustainability through a social contract with the stakeholders. FYF contribute to the process of nation building and the improvement of the socio-economic well being of the people of Southern Sudan in general and Upper Nile State in particular. This is accomplished by advocating a restored and unified proven cultural heritage and facilitating an enabling environment for economic empowerment, based on principles of democratic accountability, transparency and self-reliance.
The mission of FYF is to contribute to the process of nation building and the improvement of the socio-economic well being of the people of South Sudan through promotion of participatory approaches and sustainable technologies. With it vision of healthy, Socio-economically sound and a well-educated communities. Towards this goal, FYF is implementing public works projects in Malakal town with financial support from IRD under the UNDP funded Rapid Impact Emergency Program (RIEP).The RIEP program is intended to be implemented by labor –intensive methods, coupled with providing training and messaging to the workers on life-skills, home economics, and capacity building on construction skills.
-International Relief and Development, Inc. (IRD) is an International charitable, non-profit and non-governmental organization with a mission to reduce the suffering of the world’s most vulnerable groups and provide tools and resources needed to increase their self –sufficiency. Towards this goal, IRD is implementing several public works projects in Malakal town under the UNDP funded Rapid Impact Emergency Program (RIEP).
-International Relief and Development, Inc. has identified, among other projects, the rehabilitation of market drainage and the associated culverts as priority projects to be implemented immediately, preferably before the onset of rains in May/June this year. IRD implemented the rehabilitation of market drainage through Fashoda Youth Forum a national NGO/CBO by sub-granting it with the approval from United Nations Development Programmes (UNDP).
