The NDA's political crisis and the alleged removal of Dr. Lam Akol from NDA party leadership should be worrisome for the future of genuine political oppositions in South Sudan. What's happened in NDA, if true, then, isn't politics as usual - it's individuals betraying a cause for personal gain. It's the work of the enemy of political genius, orchestrated by the SPLM and Leadership of President Salva Kiir to:
(1) Avenge the SPLM/A Nasir faction that broke away from SPLM in 1991 whereas Dr. Lam Akol was a key figure alongside the person of Dr. Riek Machar. This move orchestrated to not only political disorganize him but also to portrays him as failed leader-with objective of political sidelining him, special in the forthcoming proposed election due to fact that, the regime knows very well that, Dr. Lam Akol is Strategic thinker, Resilient, Charismatic, uncompromisable political leader that will defeat President Salva Kiir in any democratic systems (process)
(2) Eliminating key political opponent as Dr. Lam Akol is of now the only politician that remains of great political threats to SPLM and Kiir's leadership, after President Salva Kiir and SPLM political sidelines Dr. Riek Machar as it opts to. Dr. Lam Akol is indeed the only politician who as of now vocal about governance issues, corruption, and SPLM's regime failures, and unshakeable figure.
Hence, the alleged removal of Dr. Akol isn't about NDA policies or internal disputes, but power struggles within SPLM and SSOA due to Dr. Lam Akol's political affiliations and rivalry with Kiir.
This move will definitely embolden Kiir's government but could also galvanize opposition. Dr. Lam Akol's future and NDA's stance are crucial for South Sudan's fragile politics. We, who are in opposition of this regime, must stand with Dr. Lam Akol for the sake of existence of genuine Political opposition in South Sudan.
