(Pachodo.org) - The recent bombardments in Lankien, Jonglei State, raise serious questions about the SSPDF's role and accountability. Are they truly defending the nation, or have they become a tool for the regime's brutal suppression?
The targeting of unarmed civilians, destruction of villages, and displacement of populations are grave violations of human rights and international law. These actions reflect a disturbing level of cruelty, ignorance, and moral decay within the SSPDF command and the regime.
This is not warfare; it's terrorism against citizens. The SSPDF's actions lack honour, legitimacy, and justification. A true national army protects its people, not terrorizes them.
The regime's hypocrisy is stark. Claiming to defend the nation while brutalizing its own people is a stark betrayal of the people's trust. The SSPDF and President Salva Kiir's regime should be hold accountable for these atrocities.
The people of South Sudan should demand accountability and justice, and hold those responsible for these crimes accountable, and work towards a future where the SSPDF will serve and protects all citizens, not just the regime's interests, and this is only possible through security sector reform, and regime change.
