”The victory that has kept the victors unsatisfied must be the uncelebrated victory whose purposes haven’t been fulfilled yet”.

The uncelebrated victory is the tremendous victory/triumph that has been achieved but not yet felt and celebrated and the victory that is uncelebrated is “the independence of the republic of South Sudan” the world’s youngest nation whose people for decades struggled and fought for their existence surrounded by heavy metallic walls of all sorts of injustices coupled by heavy suppressions and unimaginable hostile environment that can’t  be merely described but mentioned and described in tears as the memories are so deplorable and heart tearing but at the same time source of confidence, strength and hope for all those who wish to mend the human misconduct and build an environment that makes a man human not an animal.

Less than ten years ago the world witnessed the emergence of the world’s youngest country out of the so-called caves of injustices and inhuman treatment that for long characterized the environment in which the black man lived. With the emergence of South Sudan as the world’s youngest nation in 2011, it was a sign of victory that the longtime struggle “goal” has finally been achieved and which meant that the injustices and the oppressions which the freedom fighters stood against for decades shall no more exist even by coincidence. The victory was overwhelming since it was unbelievable basing on the path through which the black man had to take to see light at the end of the tunnel and feel the long time preached freedom.

It is a pride and a blessing to all the South Sudanese to possess an independent country in which all the South Sudanese can forge a new life after a long walk to freedom and after countless battles in the bushes for sovereignty, freedom and justice. But today our minds are still filled with unanswered questions that keep us gazing at one another with great astonishment to an extent that most of our great thinkers fail to differentiate between a night and a day as a result of sleepless nights and unfelt days.

The independence of South Sudan is the uncelebrated victory since the promises of the nation building remain hanging, unanchored, unfulfilled and untouched simply because the uncelebrated victory has forced us to go to sleep and we haven’t woken up yet simply because we feel that the heaviest burden has finally been lifted off our shoulders and therefore the tiredness has forced us to sleep in presence of unaccomplished tasks.

There are tasks that we as South Sudanese need to accomplish in South Sudan to have our country anchored on the ground firmly unshaken by waves of destruction and the biggest tasks are development, justice and prosperity which must be our post-independence programs in order to celebrate the uncelebrated victory.

The enemies of the black man years ago were those who imposed their unfavorable policies on the masses and messed up with the lives of innocent people but today the issue is completely different as we have got more powerful enemies and if we don’t think, plan and work together genuinely these enemies shall ruin our country. The enemies I refer to are things like lack of development, natural calamities, corruption, illiteracy, tribalism and armed conflicts.

In order to celebrate the uncelebrated victory we must first identify what we stood against decades ago and what we defeated and what was the victory for and why we became victorious. The fight that led to the victory was staged in order to eradicate the iron curtain that couldn’t allow us to see the precious world of freedom, justice, development and peace. The independence of the republic of South Sudan was supposed to take down the iron curtain and destroy it completely.

“The deep sleep has forced us to forget the post-independence programs which kept our victory uncelebrated. We must wake up and work then celebrate”.
