Why is the Meeting Between Omar and Salva in Addis Ababa?

The pertinent questions that comes in the mind of every Sudanese both northerners and southerners are:

Had the presidency been dissolved? Was Dr.Riak’s visit the last to Khartoum by GOSS officials? Will Omer not go to Juba for the celebrations of independence on 9/7/2011?

If many countries do not turn up for the celebrations of the independence of ROSS, which shall be the gauge of acceptibility of the new state into the international community as an independent sovereign state, SPLM will be held resposible for its policies of squabbling between themselves, shelving others and not sticking to the CPA. The most unfortunate ordeal with the SPLM partner of the CPA, is they want to do everything alone and without clear thinking. Now the president had open fire in all directions including his cabinet members, his military staff besides the opposition parties, the rebel armies and now the government of north Sudan after the un called for attack on SAF in Abyei and recently the South Kordofan fighting. Will the GOSS with meager resources cope with all these crises?

It is categorically strange that the president of GOSS with an army of advisors some are so shroud politicians with experiences, is the problem with the advisors who do not guide the chairman, or he never consults them? People like General Rasas, General Lagu, Tilar Ring and others should offer good help to the president of GOSS. There are others of course who cannot be relied on like Mr. forget no need for names. The CPA which had not been conclude to date has provisions the GOSS must abide by like Abyei cannot be annexed to the south by force as the people went to Kordofan by choice of the people like wise coming to the south should also be peaceful by people’s choice in the referendum spelt out in the CPA. The other hot issue is the presence of the SPLA army in the north after the referendum is illegal by CPA measures, especially that the north loss trust in SPLM, it is justified to be afraid of an army controlled in ROSS, thus the SPLA in southern Blue Nile and south Kordofan should either be integrated into SAF or be demobilized completely. The meeting between Omar and Salva taking place in Ethiopia indicate one serious thing “ LOSS OF TRUST” between the president and his deputy. In the case of this lack of trust, how will other pending issues be resolved? The most important are the boarders, the oil sharing, the debts the southern people in the north mainly students in the universities and secondary schools.

The new state is in a weaker position as far as resources are concern. Now many cars had been grounded in Juba Wau and Malakal because of fuel problem, a sack of sorghum in Wau is 180 SDG, never misunderstand these facts are not stated to hamper or delay the declaration of the new state, but this is to take precautions that when we come back from the celebrations we should be able to have transport back home, have some food at home and a piece of soap to shower with. In other words, Independence celebrations is not the end in itself, rather it should be the beginning of a sustainable livelihood so that after the end of the celebrations we should not find ourselves like fish out of water.
