Caritas Switzerland and Luxembourg (Caritas) are Roman Catholic aid agencies and member of Caritas Internationalis. We work worldwide and adhere to international humanitarian principles (NGO code of conduct). Our scope of work reflects 4 priority areas: disaster relief, self-deter-mined development, social security, cosmopolitan and tolerant society. We encourage people to take charge of their own fate and do this by promoting local initiatives that improve the living conditions of the socially disadvantaged in a sustainable way; advocating the conservation of natural resources; supporting civil conflict resolution and peace building; cooperating with local partners and strengthening their own commitments. We have a regional office in Nairobi and country offices in Hargeisa (Somaliland) and Torit (Sudan). The Kenya and Uganda programmes are coordinated from Nairobi. |
