The Ruling Partners, the National Congress Party (NCP) and Sudan People?s Liberation Movement (SPLM) held a joint meeting last Saturday, at the NCP Head Office premises. That meeting was co-chaired by NCP Deputy Chairman, Dr. Nafie Ali Nafie and SPLM General Secretary Pagan Amum with the participation of senior members from the two parties. The said meeting discussed three main issues ? the Joint Leadership Committee meeting, and the Political Follow Up Committee meeting scheduled for this Monday and the Joint Leadership Committee next meeting scheduled for end of current April.
The Monday meeting would discuss issues forwarded to it by the Joint Leadership Committee, besides undertaking the preparations for the coming Joint Leadership Committee meeting.
Following the said meeting, the Presidential Advisor and member of the Joint Political Committee, Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, told the press that today?s meeting will be a critical meeting as it will discuss all the crucial issues pertaining to the NCP and SPLM partnership as well as to the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
In another development, Ismail revealed that under Eritrean mediation, a meeting has been scheduled in Tripoli, Libya in the third week of current April, between Sudan Government and the non-signatories to the DPA. He hoped that the projected
meeting would be a step forward as to peace realization in Darfur.
