Gambella — Ethio-South Sudan neighboring regions have acceded to work closely in border area development, peace and stability as well as people to people relations.

Officials from the Gambella and South Ethiopia People States of Ethiopia and Jong Upper Nile and East Equatorial of South Sudan have held discussion on various issues of mutual concerns.

Gambella State Chief Umod Ubong and Jong Upper Region deputy administrator Hussien Mar have signed the agreement.

As per the agreement, the two sides would work closely border security and people to people relations, fighting against anti-peace elements.

On the occasion, Umod said the agreement would enhance development activities and ensure sustainable peace in the border areas.

He said the agreement would help jointly the anti-peace elements in border areas.

The Chief stressed the need for coordinated efforts for the realization of the agreement.

Jong Upper Region deputy administrator Hussien Mar on his part said the two countries have historical and cultural values in common besides their age-long relation.

He said his government is committed to work closely with the Ethiopian government in the areas of development, peace and security in border areas.
