On Friday November 26/2010, people of Malakal town turn out in big numbers at the river side at 10;00AM, eagerly awaiting the arrival of SPLM-DC heroes who had been just set free from SPLA detentions camps since April elections 2010.
These innocent citizens had to bear the brunt of the political conspiracies, physical and psychological trauma and imprisonment for no more than being members of SPLM-DC party. They became the first prisoners of conscience in south Sudan after the CPA, for what they believed in, in a supposedly a democratic society.
Their release comes as a part of implementation of the recommendations of the south – south dialogue that convened in Juba last month declaring the necessity of unified stand for all the southern people prior to the referendum that should take place on 9th January 2011 as stipulated in the CPA. We in SPLM-DC take this opportunity to thank H.E. Lt. General Salva Kiir Mayardit president of GOSS for ordering and follow-up of the release of our compatriots.
The huge turn out of Malakal citizens indicated if any thing, the solidarity with their beloved heroes, and their firm commitment to support the truth irrespective consequences. Those released are:
1. Hon Mustafa Gai Lwal.
Member of the Upper Nile Legislative Assembly – for Panyikango County.
2. Dr. Odol Ochayi Anyaljok ; Pharmacist SMOH.
3. Citizen Garang Oyiejo Kwot.
4. Citizen Olony Achiek Okiec.
5. Citizen Obyielo John Byielo.
