Information has once more emerged from Malakal yesterday that yet another Collo fisherman was shot while fishing in Sobat River and another till today gone missing in Konam Anakdiar area.

This is the second incidence in its kind over a period of one Month. Last March one fisherman was shot dead in his boat while fishing in the same waters. The incidences are part of the Dinka ploy to occupy all Collo land around Sobat River and East of the river Nile. They are made to provoke the local people and create fear, so that the inhabitants leave the land.

As could be comprehended, the tactic being used by this uncivilized people now is to prevent fishing in Sobat River by Collo people and who knows what the next move would be. Last January, during the 4th CPA anniversary celebration in Malakal Collo people in Anakdiar town were massacred by a group of bandits from the neighbouring Dinka and Abanimo village in Lul was burned down with five persons killed.

The sitting government of Upper Nile State made no statement to condemn the brutal action and the culprits till today have not been brought to justice. Collo MPs addressed the governments of Upper Nile and GOSS, but their pleading found deaf ears. Two weeks ago the Chief of the Dinka in South Sudan referred to as president of the Government of Southern Sudan Salva Kiir was in Malakal to attend a reconciliation conference between his brothers from Atar forest and Khorflus wilderness. He attended full time and contributed enormously for the success of this conference. The resolutions came out and were signed by the two governors of Upper Nile and Jonglei States respectively as witnesses. Pijo, which is part and parcel of Adhidyang or Obang village, was referred to as the new capital of the bandits' county.
