Dr. Lam Akol
Dr. Lam Akol
The house of the SPLM-DC Chairman and Chairman of South Sudan National Alliance, Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin, continues on siege by Government Security Forces in Juba since 23rd April 2015. My contact with him indicates that his situation is still as it was. We continue to be worried indeed; and we call upon the international human rights agencies to intervene to the rescue of Dr. Lam.

We also call upon the United Nations Mission in South Sudan to intervene and ask the Government of South Sudan why this is happening; we appeal to the South Sudan Legislative Assembly to ask for explanation from the Government why the leader of the main opposition party in the Country is arrested without due process of law. We also appeal to the friends of South Sudan to raise their concerns.

We are calling the people of South Sudan to condemn, in the strongest words possible this terrorist scare and intimidating tactics of the Government of South Sudan against its own citizens and political leaders. Meanwhile, the Secretariat General condemns this unlawful act, it also calls upon the entire party membership to keep calm until all the safe legal procedures are exhausted to address and settle the matter.

Let me register my sincere thanks and high regards to BBC, VOA, the SBS Dinka Language Radio in Australia, and all the media outlets which had made interviews with Dr. Lam during all these days; their work had answered the denial of the arrest made by the South Sudan Government minister of information, Mr., Micheal Makuei.

Thank you all.
Deng Bior Deng,
SPLM-DC Secretary General
