Al-Degair Calls on SPLM-N to Cut Ties with South Sudan - Sudan Vision

Khartoum - Chairman of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), Dr. Jalal Yousif Al-Degair, called on SPLM-N to prove that it is part of Sudan by ending its links and relations with foreign countries, including South Sudan.
This came when he received a delegation from South Sudan Sunday on DUP premises in Khartoum. He said the People's Movement will not be recognized because of its link with South Sudan, a serious obstacle to its legitimacy.
Dr. Jalal explained that the meeting comes within the framework of the party's attention to concerns of South Kordofan and its eagerness to achieve peace in the region through the current negotiations in Addis Ababa.
Dr. Al-Degair stressed the importance of holding a dialogue that would lead to the stopping of bloodshed in the area. He pointed out that the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) stipulated dialogue as a means to peace. He reiterated Sudan's rejection of re-opening the agreement again.
He also expressed his party's visions regarding peaceful dialogue and maintaining the Sudan's social fabric.
On his part, the head of the delegation, Yusuf Bashir, stated that the delegation of the Supreme Committee for Kadugli Consultations Forum on issues of peace in the region represents the political spectra in South Kordofan and civil society.
He added that the meeting came within the framework of preparatory meetings for the Forum, which needs the support of all Sudanese people. He said the Forum, to be held 6-8 October in Kadugli, is expected to bring together all members of the South Kordofan community. He explained that it aims to showcase the views of the region's citizens towards achieving peace and stability.
"We hope that the Forum serves as a gateway to a comprehensive and lasting peace for the people of South Kordofan," he added.
