The survey findings indicate a critical nutrition crisis in AAA:
• Global Acute Malnutrition (GAM) prevalence by WHZ was 23.0% (95% CI: 19.7–26.8) , nearly double the WHO emergency threshold of 15%. When combined with MUAC, GAM was 26.3% (95% CI: 22.5–30.5) .
• Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) prevalence was 5.4% (95% CI: 3.3–8.7) by WHZ and 7.3% (95% CI: 4.9–10.8) when combined with MUAC.
• Underweight prevalence was 34.5% (95% CI: 29.8–39.4) —classified as "very high" by WHO standards.
• Stunting prevalence was 20.3% —classified as "poor/medium" public health significance.
• Malnutrition was most severe among children aged 6-17 months, where 32.9% were wasted, including 8.6% with SAM.
• No cases of bilateral pitting oedema were recorded, indicating SAM is primarily manifested as marasmus rather than kwashiorkor.
