Highlights
Conflict and localized violence displaced more than 428,000 people between January and June, with Jonglei State accounting for 60 per cent of the displacements. The unrest heightened protection risks and strained services, particularly for children and women.
Family tracing and reunification efforts enabled 491 unaccompanied and separated children to reunite with their families, a substantial increase from the same period in 2025, reflecting strengthened child protection response capacity.
Multiple disease outbreaks continued to strain the health system. Since the cholera outbreak began in October 2024, 107,779 cases and 1,706 deaths had been reported by the end of June. Concurrent outbreaks of mpox, measles, cVDPV1, hepatitis E, and dengue further increased health risks for children, while Ebola remained a imminent risk despite no confirmed cases.
The 2026 Humanitarian Action for Children (HAC) appeal remains 44 per cent funded, with shortfalls in the education and WASH sectors, limiting response amid rising needs.
