By Dr. Peter Adwok Otto,
Associate Professor Upper Nile University.
When someone errs and the result is calamitous or a havoc is incurred, this is branded fatal mistake in other fields, this is senslessness. When someone errs, realizes the magnitude and attempts to contain the likely resultant of his/her act, this is sensitivity.
When someone acts and we think he made an error, but the resultant is right and rewarding, this is sensitivity coupled with specificity in a bondage. In fact errors are being made from day to day consciously for reasons peculiar to the circumstances. Some errors are committed in defiance of the obvious In the process of prosecuting plans of conspiracy or otherwise. For example:If Ricardo fires Rhonaldino from Barcelona football club because of the down trend of his standards, he is exercising sensitivity based on the pressures by the club supporters and consideration of the material income generated for the club by the player. But if he exerts some strain and perseverance over Rhonaldino’s crisis, he will have sensitivity and specificity by not selling the needed player to another club, who might have his standard remodelled by more training to attain his previousStatus or even better.
When Adam accepted to eat the fruit of the right and wrong from Eve, from the middle of Eden, he was showing sensitivity to his partner, but never cared about specificity albeit, he should have shown self strain because the creator’s instruction not to come in proximity of this particular tree. Thus the lack of sensitivity and lack of specificity amounted to senselessness punished by death.
Should we apply this reasoning to every day life, much remain desired while we sort which action is what and its impact on those standing by the road and looking intensely at the players, scrutinizing what is best and for whom.
This is the complexity of human nature that regulates livelihood occasionally fostering or not any of the qualities mentioned in the title above that could influenced by artificial earthly factors and ingredients as power or wealth or the lack of them. This nature at the same time makes the difference in formation and shaping of the characters of the human beings.
All the activities of people are affected in one way or another by these qualities. For instance:
A trader or businessman may see only collecting wealth is that all matters, and can do it even over the dead bodies of his victims or competitors. Poor children Indulging in drug addiction are his victims, so long as this can earn him much money, estates, companies etc.but never thinks of building a school, hospital or gymnasium. However, the cutest among them resort to money laundering of the ill-natured wealth by providing paid for services, only to make more money that appears legal to the public and law.
A leader might clink to power irrespective of voices calling for reform, development or instituting democratic transformation. Examples are so many especially in Africa, Mr. Mobuto Sessesiko of DRC. If you went to Kinshasa, as you are driven into the city, the first statue you meet is that of the dictator Mobutu. The heated debate among citizens in DRC are either senseless, sensitive, or specific, to why the statue of the dictator stands high at the entrance of the city that suffered great neglect because of his bad rule. Senselessness at work had wanted the statue demolished, while sensitivity and specificity had it that he was a part of history of their history, and will always remind the people that he was so bad, but he washere. Might be in the next election the people of DRC will be kept abreast about the dictators.
Robert Mogabi is one political monster dreaded by Zambians and had kept rectifying the constitution to extend his period of rule. Now the time had come when people are quite fed-up and the inflation had reached 300.00%.This is complete political senselessness lack both political sensitivity and specificity. Where are we from all this. Please find out and tell us.
