Malakal.
On November the 22nd, 1963, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 35th President of the United States was murdered in Dallas (Texas). For many years now, the mistery is still from being solved.Lee Harvey Oswald was held responsible for the killing of the most loved US president. Some two days later, Oswald was killed by Jack Ruby.
We in Malakal are not intending to influence the investigation into the attempted assassination of Dr.Lam on the 2nd March 2008. However, as eye witnesses in the events that took place in Malakal people have the right to speculate and gossip about the incident.
The fourth man involved in the shooting and who was not among those three in the targeted car, was shot in the hand and the bullet passed through the hand to settle in the chest that was removed by an operation. On the second day he was talking and his health was improving and cooperative in the investigation all the people in Malakal knew this.
Suddenly, Knews went around the town that he died. The querries are, had he become like Lee H. Oswald who was silenced by Jack Raby to lose the trend of the investigation? Was he poisoned? Was he hired to execute a plan? Did he communicate on a setalite phone to accomplices? Was he driven to the site of the crime in a white landcrusier? All thess question will be answered by the investigation. We are informed that Dr. Lam when addressing many people(politicians, youth and women well wishers) who turned out at the enterence of Khartoum(Jebel Awulia) on Tuesday midday (it was also shown on the Sudan TV that night), never pointed a finger at any group or person(s). But we are thinking that those who hurriedly developed the theory of the cattle thieves as being be hind the attack, are as mistaken as those who accuse any body. How did these people find out that the killing of our dear ones was by the cattle rustlers?
JFK was a very powerful president of US and was loved by so many Americans like Dr.Lam among his people. Thus envy from others and his success are the evil wishesrs’ sole reasons for disliking him. He thanked SPLA H/Q and the officers incharge of regions for keep suveilance over his trip when he and the upper nile MPs travelling with him had hard times with commissioners of Fashoda and Manyo who are afraid of the people and therefore never wanted him to hold political rallies in those places.
A politician without people is like a tree without water under it. The question is why appoint such commissioners who are not with the people and preventing those who have development plans for the masses at the grass roots. In ademocratic sciety each and every politician must go to the people and avail his program for their betterment. The SPLM’s image will be destroyed by such politicians and commisioners who seek only employment and not the welfare of the people. We people of Upper Nile and the counties concern request H.E. Salva to remove these commissioners.
