National Strategy for the Development of Statistics
Establishment of South Sudan Statistical Society (SSSS)
Introduction
With the ongoing initiative aimed at strengthening the national statistical system (NSS) through the NSDS project from the government of the Republic of South Sudan,the government cannot sufficiently achieve this alone, it requires support from other bodies to ensure future statisticians are properly developed and coached with professional skills.To achieve this, SSSS is at the centre of it to ensure it happens.
Why form SSSS,
The SSSS will be the national “umbrella” organisation to support and encourage the development and use of statistics and probability.
Strategic objectives of SSSS

Ensure statistics are used effectively in the public interest;

Ensure society become more statistically literate;
-
Ensure future statisticians develop the skills of the statistical profession;
-
Ensure statistics as the disciplines is strengthened;
-
Help to develop a public awareness of the value of statistical thinking and the importance of statistics and statisticians in SSSS;

Work to ensure that decisions affecting SSSS are based on appropriate data and valid statistical interpretation;

Promote the highest possible standards for statistical education and practice in SSSS;
-
Promote the development of statistical methodology;
-
Promote a sense of community among all statisticians in SSSS and
-
Provide a forum for the exchange of ideas between theoreticians and practitioners of statistics.
Targeted Professionals
SSSS is informing interesting professionals or Individuals who are willing to becomes members of SSS. The first meeting will discuss the constitution. The membership registration is now opened for qualified Statisticians, Mathematicians, Actuals, Operation Researchers, Economics, Anthropologists, Sociologists, Demographists etc and students of the above mentioned fields.
