One is obliged to respond to the article by Mr. J. Gatluak Latjor Geng published in Khartoum Monitor(KM) which bias and opinionated paper against Dr. Lam, that never publishes any article defending him, same as some officials in the old SPLM who can never entertain other opinions.
On page 4 of KM of June 25 2009, Mr. Geng accused Dr. Lam of " deserting the SPLM by forming SPLM-DC as in 1991".
The article carries no material of ideological interest, but just sheer blame for breaking away either 2009 or in 1991, with no convincing reasons for the welfare for the south or the Sudan. The article is just a reflection of either encroachment on Mr. Gengs self interest or mere hatred for the personality of Dr. Lam generated by envy as is the case with some officials of the old SPLM.
"Lam always leaves the southerners when the southern struggle is tight; our enemies are at closest range and when the southern Sudanese need one another".
Shading crocodile tears is what it is from this man who seem to belittle the role of Dr. Lam in the struggle. How can Lam be an enemy of the new Sudan and worst for southern Sudanese as the SPLM-DC is trying to make correction to the mess incurred by old SPLM through corruption nepotism and ill-practices which renders the south a lame duck, a year from election and plebiscite for self-determination. But how could Dr. Lam bee able to contribute to the well being for the southern people when Yen Matthews declared him persona non-grata in the old SPLM and Salva left him out of SPLM political bureau. He did not disown the SPLM, but rather the otherwise. How can some one at the pinnacle like Dr. Lam escape political challenges of the party, but because he was always vigilant at problem solving, many disable politicians never entertain his ideas especially in the Salva's SPLM. Please be objective and look closely to find out who destroyed the SPLM, you will find out without effort that those at the elms of the leadership of old SPLM failed the organization and not willing to involve other members of the party collectively in putting the house to gather. Like someone dismissed by the parents, but still toils to mend the rent.
Dr.Lam main concern is how to arrive at the referendum in 2011, institute democratic change in the south and give southern people a better life than the hunger, corruption, tribalism, intra and inter tribal fighting in the south because of the bad management.
Obama said we can not wait for change to come from somewhere "we are the change". Mr.Geng we must start thinking outside the box. If the old SPLM can not deliver we can't wait for godat(unknown) to shape and correct our mistakes. You will recall that the 1991 split was justified give the circumstances of the time due to lack of democratic transparency, human rights and clear vision on the southern aspirations. We believe that 1991 split was a blessing in disguise, because it brought about the self determination and the democratic change that led to Chikudum first SPLM convention in 1994. But you must be told that Salva Kiir was part Nasir faction in essence. SPLM-DC will not be dwarf as you claim, but it is going to be a popular party and going to salvage the south. One wanders what you call genuine cause( I thought you meant case). How can Dr.Lam destroy the south for which he toiled as field commander of SPLA and champion of the Self-Determination(SD). If you think that SPLM-DC is going to thrive in the shadow of SPLM and a dwarf, then what is the worry about.
