South Sudanese settling into South Australia

The plight of the Sudanese people has been in the news since the 1980's. Almost two million people have died there in the bloodiest of civil wars. But when the Sudanese are resettled as refugees they also face the problem of how they are portrayed. After the particularly brutal murder of a Sudanese man by a white Australian a few years ago the then Federal Minister for Immigration was critical of the way they fitted into Australian society. It was the lowest point in their media portrayal according to David Leek from the South Sudanese Youth Council. He came into the 891 studio to tell listeners that since then there have been plenty of good news stories that don't get reported.
