Moscow expects that "the UN Secretariat and South Sudan authorities will “take measures to accelerate the fact-finding process, and those responsible will be brought to justice”, added the diplomat.
"Such incidents should not be repeated either in South Sudan, or anywhere else," believes Churkin.
On December 21 an Mi-8 helicopter owned by Russia’s Nizhnevartovskavia, working under a U.N. contract, was downed by South Sudan’s army. Four Russians were killed. The "clearly marked" helicopter was shot down, even though the military were informed of its mission.
