The South Sudan U-17 National Team, the Bright Stars, today secured a thrilling 3–2 victory over Sudan in the U-17 AFCON Qualifiers – CECAFA Zone in Kigali, Rwanda.
The Bright Stars displayed remarkable determination and fighting spirit, staging an impressive comeback after trailing 1–2 at halftime. Despite going into the break behind, the young South Sudanese talents returned to the pitch with renewed energy and determination, eventually turning the game around to claim a memorable 3–2 victory.
The victory highlights the resilience, fighting spirit, and competitive character of the Bright Stars as they continue their campaign in the regional qualifiers. Meanwhile, the South Sudan National Team U-17 paid a courtesy visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial this evening to honour and pay tribute to the victims who lost their lives during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
The visit provided an opportunity for the Bright Star U-17 delegation to reflect on the tragic history, remember the innocent lives lost, and pay their respects to the victims.
The team’s visit also serves as a reminder of the importance of peace, unity, reconciliation, and humanity as the young footballers continue their participation in the U-17 AFCON Qualifiers – CECAFA Zone in Kigali, Rwanda.
