The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), serving under Operation 'Mlinzi wa Kimya' in South Sudan, has commissioned new medical facilities at its headquarters in Bilnyang to mark Uganda’s 64th Independence Day.
The facilities include a laboratory, an operating theatre, an antenatal room and a dental unit, aimed at improving healthcare delivery to UPDF personnel and the surrounding South Sudanese community.
The Joint Task Force Commander, Brig Gen Anthony Lukwago Mbuusi, thanked President Yoweri Museveni and the UPDF leadership, particularly the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for their financial and logistical support to the operation.
Mbuusi commended the medical personnel for their dedication to patient care and efforts to reduce congestion in the wards.
He also welcomed newly deployed staff and urged them to serve with commitment. Present were senior and junior officers.
