JUBA, May 20, 2026 — Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday officially launched an upgraded presidential website aimed at improving public access to government information and enhancing communication between the presidency and citizens.
The newly redesigned digital platform, unveiled in Juba, is expected to serve as the official online hub for information from the Office of the President, offering regular updates on state affairs, government programmes, presidential engagements, national policies, speeches, directives, and public announcements.
Government officials said the initiative forms part of wider efforts to modernise public communication systems and strengthen transparency through the use of digital technology.
Speaking during the launch ceremony, President Kiir described the platform as a major step toward improving openness and ensuring citizens have direct access to accurate and reliable information from official government sources.
“In this digital era, communication is essential in building trust between leaders and the people,” President Kiir said. “This platform will help ensure that South Sudanese citizens receive timely and factual information about the work of government and the direction of the country.”
The President said the website would also play an important role in countering misinformation and speculation by providing verified updates on government activities and national developments.
Officials involved in the project said the platform has been designed to be more accessible, user-friendly, and responsive across mobile phones, tablets, and computers to accommodate the growing number of internet users in South Sudan and among citizens living abroad.
The website includes sections dedicated to presidential speeches, press releases, official statements, national events, government priorities, and multimedia content, including photographs and videos documenting state activities.
Authorities said the platform will also provide historical records and archival material related to the presidency and national governance to improve public awareness and institutional memory.
During the event, the government further announced plans to establish an Official Government Gazette that will publish laws, regulations, presidential decrees, policy directives, and official notices. Officials said the Gazette is intended to strengthen legal transparency and ensure citizens, institutions, and investors have easier access to official state publications.
Members of the technical committee that developed the website thanked President Kiir for entrusting them with the initiative, describing the project as part of South Sudan’s broader digital transformation agenda.
The committee said the platform reflects the government’s commitment to improving service delivery, strengthening public engagement, and promoting access to information for South Sudanese citizens both inside the country and abroad.
Officials added that the launch marks a new phase in modernising state communication systems and building stronger interaction between the presidency and the public through digital channels.
South Sudan has in recent years increased efforts to digitise government services and communication systems as internet access and mobile connectivity continue to expand across the country.
