South Sudan has released a 50-player training camp longlist ahead of its inaugural Olympic campaign later this year.

The Bright Stars are preparing to contest their first ever Olympic Games in Paris just 12 months after finishing 17th in their maiden FIBA World Cup campaign in 2023.

Nine players currently rostered for NBL25 have been named to the list, including new Cairns signing Jackson Makoi who was forced to miss the World Cup campaign due to a knee injury.

A host of former NBL players have also been included in the list, including the likes of Kuany Kuany, Junior Madut, Makur Maker and Mangok Mathiang.

The squad is headlined by the inclusion of NBA forward Bol Bol, who moved to the United States after fleeing the Second Sudanese Civil War in 2001.

Former Boomer Thon Maker has also been included in the list. Maker was a mainstay of Boomers camps throughout the late 2010s and early 2020s, and was a member of Australia’s victorious FIBA Asia Cup winning team of 2022.
