CATHOLIC University of Eastern Africa plans to open campuses in South Sudan and Eritrea as part of its regional expansion programme.

The two campuses will be established in Juba and Asmara giving the university a strong presence in the Eastern region. Speaking during a career day at the University's Gaba Campus in Eldoret, the Executive Director of Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa, Pius Male Ssentumbwe, said the expansion programme is in line with the university's mission of providing quality education in all the eight countries in the Eastern Africa region.

Ssentumbwe said the Juba campus will be opened in May to be followed by the one in Asmara later in the year. He said the University has sufficient personnel to ensure the smoothly run the campuses in the two countries. "We will send some of our lecturers there to help with building a firm foundation as well as putting everything in order as we embark in this ambitious plan of imparting residents of this region with quality education," Said Ssentumbwe .

Pamela Nyarige, acting coordinator of Arts and Social sciences at the university called on all stakeholders in the education sector to ensure that students are properly guided on career choices to enable them pursue careers they will excel in. " At no time in life is the need for guidance more critical than in the transition from secondary school to Higher education. There is need for adequate preparation if attainment of efficiency and success is to be a reality," said Nyarige.
