(MENAFN[1])The UN agency cautioned that more than 100,000 people are starving in South Sudan after the delay of food help by the World Food Program (WFP).
The WFP stated that by reason of supporting decrease from contributors it is going to begin postpone regular food supplies from October till 2022 for 106,000 internally displaced people (IDPs) in the Wau and Bor places and in the capital Juba.
According to Matthew Hollingworth, who is WFP country executive in South Sudan “Drastic times call for drastic measures.”
“We are forced to take these painful decisions and stretch our limited resources to meet the critical needs of people who were on the brink of starvation and now risk slipping back into catastrophe if their access to food diminishes.”
