This study is aimed at the contribution of Southern Sudanese to the Independence of the Sudan. It is generally believed that peripheral regions have the same fate and Southern Sudan is not exceptional to other regions.
The paper examines the role of the Southern Sudanese in Sudanese Nationalism. It explains the Sudanese Nationalism in 1930s and the resistance to the Anglo-Egyptian Administration from 1900 - 1930. The task reviews the role played by the Southern religious leader who also became a temporal leader.
The purpose of this study research is to demonstrated present the role of Southern Sudanese towards Independence, and to show what they have contributed to the Independence of the country.
