By. Dr. Peter Adwok Otto.
The D/Chairman and spokesman Abdulla was not honest in his statements when he said “Elections in south Sudan and Darfur are going as planned with no serious problems”. How come that the world media happen to know better than the deputy chairman of NEC about the very serious violations of elections in the south, almost all over the south, some as serious a killing or destruction of the NEC offices as that happen in Riak and Wau respectively.
We had thought that the NEC was innocent by the time a complaint to disqualify GOSS presidential candidate in military uniform Mr. SALVA was brushed aside. But it is now clear that the NEC is a major player in the conspiracy. The prove of which is evident by travelling of the chairman and his deputy to the West and North Sudan respectively and shunting the south that was in their dire need for overseeing the election preparation process, to tell the SPLM/A about the importance of the election peaceful and fair.
Dr. Lam arrived Khartoum on the 7th Wednesday April from Wau where he was subjected to security harassment a day earlier and for the second time while returning from Yambio, which made the launching impossible. From the airport to the H/Q, Dr. Lam related what happened in Wau and a written complaint was delivered by party’s members on 5th Monday April to NEC and received by Dr. Abdulla in person as Abel Alier was in Darfur in which the party suggested suspension of GOSS presidential elections in four Bahar ElGhzal states as the condition was not conducive for campaigning and launching of the party’s propaganda as stipulated by election rights of the candidates. Mr. Abdulla assured us that the NEC will deliberate on the issue on Thursday 8Th . Nothing as usual came from the NEC.
A day before the elections we enquired about the results and were told that Abel Alier had not sign the response to the complaint. When asked by the media about the violations in the south, Abdulla responded by saying “Lam Akol should take necessary legal action or raise the matter to NEC”. The flow with Abdulla’s statement is the lack of honesty and courage to mention the truth. That Dr. Lam had before staged a written complaint and had gone to the constitutional court before on the advise of NEC after being obliged by reason to commit in writing that the case was to go to the constitutional court(empty promise). When the constitutional court ruled out because of lack of relevancy, by stating that the case should have been handled by NEC .Thus NEC consciously evaded responsibility under oath a deliberate act of sabotage. By then the time had elapsed above all no appeal is allowed by their provisions( what an act). This flagrant behavior gave SALVA as GOSS presidential candidate in full military uniform the militant posing in the southern elections. Now for D/Chairman Abdulla to pose as if no cases were piled is dubious. The case of harassment of Mr. Bona Malwal in his home town should make Abdulla shift in his chair and at least advise his BOSS not to write secret letters to candidates. Who knows, may be the NEC wrote another letter to SALVA to keep on bullying the southern voters to scare them and led Kiir have an upper hand in the south.
