The European Heads of Mission have raised alarm over restriction of humanitarian assistance to the people of South Sudan.
In a statement released on Friday, Heads of Mission, Denmark, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Norway, Switzerland, Canada and Japan have expressed deep concern over the recently passed Bill by the South Sudan National Assembly to restrict NGOs’ operations on humanitarian assistance to hunger stricken areas across the country.

They said, “Humanitarian assistance must be delivered in full to those in need,” refereeing to the IGAD’s earlier communiqué demanding both parties of unconditional humanitarian access to avert further crisis and tragedy in the country.

The Heads of Mission however, renewed call on both parties to form the Government of National Unity, which will review the NGOs’ Bill in coordination with other international actors to ensure compliance with the international best practices.
