Oba and Emmanuel Lemi were murdered on Sunday in Jebel, located about 7km west of the capital, Juba.
“We cannot tell you the suspects because their accomplices may try to run,” police spokesperson, James Enocka said without further details.
Samuel Suba, Central Equatoria state information minister ruled out gun murder.
“It appears they were killed and dumped there,” said Suba.
Meanwhile, police said they heightened investigation into the matter.
“We shall continue to bring all suspects to book,” assured Enocka.
Oba served as Central Equatoria’s minister for cabinet affairs prior to her mayoral appointment.
Killings and night raids commonly occur in Juba suburbs, despite increased patrols by police and the military in the capital.
