The Republic of Congo's President Denis Sassou N'Guesso on Tuesday met in the capital Brazzaville with the envoy of his Sudanese counterpart Omar el- Bashir on relations with South Sudan.

Nafie Ali Nafie, who is an adviser to the Sudanese president, was carrying a message regarding the ongoing negotiations to normalize relations between the two Sudans.

He noted the positive developments in the talks between Sudan and South Sudan.

"We are sure that Sassou N'Guesso will help Sudan and South Sudan to resolve the problems between them and without external intervention. We have urged the Congolese president to support the peace and security efforts being done by his counterparts of the two Sudans," Ali Nafie said after the meeting.

The presidents of Sudan and South Sudan, el-Bashir and Silva Kiir, committed during their recent meeting in Addis Ababa to fix a timetable for the execution of key agreements between the two countries which were signed over three years ago.

A new meeting is scheduled to take place in the coming days to finalize the timetable for execution of the agreements between the two countries.

The two Sudans have differences over the sharing of oil resources, the status of their citizens living on each other's territory and the future of the border region of Abyei.

The envoy for the Sudanese president said the Congolese president promised to do his best to help the two countries achieve sustainable peace to promote regional security.
