Changing the game, Sudan has launched a new oil in South Kordofan with initial daily production capacity of 6,000 barrel and expected to jump to 10,000 within two month while the drilling of four wells is completed.
The launch of the new oil field will compensate the oil Sudan has lost following the secession of South Sudan and the damage inflicted by South Sudan attacks on of Hejlij Oil field.
Politically, the new oil field will reduce Juba's blackmailing and pressures on Sudan. Juba is using oil as a weapon to inflict greater damage to the Sudanese economy and force the Sudanese government accepts its demands.
Juba thinks that Khartoum will not stand even for a single day without its oil. Against its wishes, Sudan has stood for more than a year and sought new resources to get free from depending on South Sudan oil.
Certainly, this development will be shocking to South Sudan which attacked Hejlij to obstruct oil production to paralyze Sudan economically. The new achievements will politically frustrate Juba.
The projects was accomplished by pure Sudanese hands in cooperation with a Yemeni company.
The new field is situated in the heart of South Kordofan, so was difficult to be targeted by South Sudan or by its agents in the region. Moreover, the government has adopted new tight measure to prevent targeting oil institutions.
Another blow to South Sudan is the Sudanese government's amendments of nationality act and warned Juba that South Sudanese subjects will lose their nationality.
Addressing a workshop co-sponsored by the Ministry of Justice and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) on Nationality Act for the year 1994 and its amendments,
According to the new amendaments; South Sudan subjects living in Sudan will lose their nationality, said Ministry of Justice Undersecretary.
This move and the newly launched oil fields will upset Juba and force Juba to speed up efforts to resolve disputed issues with Sudan
