Is it Self-determination or Organized Crime against Humanity in South Sudan? - Sudan Vision

The Republic of South Sudan (RoSS) is the ultimate legitimate offspring of the doctrine of self-determination (SD). On the other hand; the doctrine of SD came into existence as a result of human hurt and sufferings; perpetrated on many human societies, especially in Europe, by the abstract State. It became eloquently elucidated as a ready solution to issues of subjugation in colonial relationships, whereby; the hitherto colonized peoples were given the legal right to SD and for ruling themselves by themselves. The right has been extended nowadays to peoples in a unitary abstract State, who are subjugated, and thus opted for secession as amplification of the right of SD as is the case of the RoSS.

One of the reasons why the RoSS came into existence; besides issues of comprehensive subjugations advanced; is the fact that; we the population of South Sudan; projected ourselves to the outside world; as a people for the purposes of SD. As a people for the purposes of SD; the human persons in the RoSS were supposed to have common language; culture; religion; heritage; sociology and even anthropology. Issue of territory is not as important as these socio-cultural and religious factors. When I say that issues of territory is not important; I mean within the jurisprudence of the doctrine of SD; as elucidated by several salient case law.
However; the RoSS was born; and therefore; are we in the RoSS really a people for the purposes of genuine positive benefit from the right of SD? Are we really treating ourselves as a people who have the same destiny based upon common heritage; language; culture; religion and such like? Are we a people or peoples in the RoSS? Can the mere common existence in territorial paradigm in the RoSS; bind us together in harmonious present and future? Why did not the mere common territorial existence in the formerly united Sudan; bind together the hitherto northern and southern Sudanese; to the extent that; the latter opted for secession through the invocation of the doctrine of SD? Did we not; as South Sudanese; cite issues of marginalization; racial discrimination; ethnic discrimination; religious discrimination; lack of genuine participation in ruling the Sudan; and many other myriad of discriminatory acts and omissions; as reasons that made our case for secession from the rest of the Sudan?
For reasons of space and occasion; I do not want to delve into jurisprudential and legalistic interrogation of the doctrine of SD here; and the actual meanings of the “people” within the discourse of the right of SD. Sufficed that we are now a sovereign independent State; and we must thank our fallen martyrs and human histories for the right of SD.  However; I want to frankly; and in good objective faith, interrogate the ubiquitous pursuance of exclusiveness and the persecution of difference in the RoSS; and with impunity. It is extremely alarming and humanly disheartening when I see ourselves in the RoSS; bent on the institutionalization of the culture of exclusiveness in every aspect of our public life. That is; the ubiquitous demonstration of political; economic; and financial greed as a methodology of governance.
The near holy doctrine of SD has been invoked by us in the RoSS so that; we as a supposed people; have and enjoy the rights and opportunities to rule ourselves by ourselves; and so that; all sectors of us; as a people; participate in the processes of ruling of ourselves by ourselves. Alas; is that happening in this day and age of SD in the RoSS? Are we not supposed to despise and abhor all human tendencies towards acts and omissions that lead us to the slippery slope of comprehensive discriminations; as methodologies of governance in the RoSS? Are we not supposed to be the all knowing modern African regional and continental umpires, and managers; of comprehensive games of non-discriminations and SD? Well; these are all in the realm of what ought to be. However; the reality on the ground, in the RoSS, is that; the near holy doctrine of SD is in danger of being turned into a farce; and in its place, a near organized criminal enterprise is being nurtured and institutionalised and legalised.
 A very sobre observation of the human society in the RoSS would indicate that; but for our comprehensive greed; and other human weaknesses; the available comprehensive resources; in the RoSS; are enough, to make all of us, live in prosperities, and be able to guarantee these prosperities, for our posterities to come; without hurting ourselves through indulgence, in the political game of exclusion from the benefits of these comprehensive resources. The criminal enterprise referred to above is to do with the current drive towards the institutionalization of the industry of civil wars in South Sudan. There is an urgent need for us in the RoSS; to constructively redefine the meaning of governance within the ambit of the doctrine of SD which gave birth to the RoSS. 
If we think that we are a people for the purposes of SD; then; the impunity demonstrated in the RoSS; for the pursuance of discriminatory politics and policies; as well as various tribal intrigues; for the exclusion of others, must be stopped.  I thought we delved into the politics of SD; in order, to emerge from it, as free human beings; however; the obvious evidence on the ground, in the RoSS is that; we emerged from the processes of SD as political monsters; devoid of human feelings. Let us all in political unison in the RoSS; demonstrate the spirit of humanity; by silencing the chilling howling cries of political and human distress, in entire South Sudan. This can only be done through human love; forgiveness; and national reconciliation.
It is very sad that; we in the RoSS; have more or less succeeded in the institutionalization of the politics of exclusion and marginalisation;  in the process of which; whole tribes set out to destroy some other tribes;  and those other tribes struggle to destroy the one tribe; and the ultimate looser is the human community of South Sudan. This gap of human hate and animosity; between these various tribes, can only be bridged by genuine human love; forgiveness; and reconciliation. But, how can we do this in the RoSS; if we almost succeeded in also turning the doctrine of SD in the RoSS; into sociopolitical Sisyphus of South Sudan. 
Our insatiable appetite, for brutal marginalisation of those others, in the RoSS; in which, the victims are parochially chosen; and then identified; and excluded; and silenced; is akin to processes of human pogroms. This is cruel. These processes of marginalisation deny the existence of humanity in those others. It is inhuman and unjust. It does not resemble any of the micro units of the doctrine of SD; if there are macro structures of the SD at all. It is like turning the whole South Sudan into one massive concentration camp. It is like Nazi Germany all over again. This is nationalism gone crazy and criminal. We cannot go on like this. Human love; forgiveness; and reconciliation have to prevail in the RoSS for the survival of the human person herein.
The reification of the peoples of the RoSS, that, they are living in happier days of SD is morally offensive. The doctrine of SD cannot whatsoever; defend; nor can it rationalise, the insane social chaos; and slaughter, brought about by South Sudanese in the RoSS; as a result of their struggle for wealth and political power in the RoSS. I thought that; the operationlisation of the doctrine of SD, in the RoSS, was going to usher in the era of positive political solidarity, as a social face of human love. I am however mistaken.
I must reiterate here that; each man and woman of South Sudan; so brutally marginalised, in order to operationalise the doctrine of SD, in the RoSS; is a total, and absolute travesty of human rights; and a complete mockery of the liberation process in the RoSS. The peoples of the RoSS are represented by every single man and woman in the RoSS. This every single man and woman, in the RoSS, was born a human person, before she/he was ascribed to a tribe. Humanity is the premise of being a South Sudanese. Nationality and citizenship confirm the humanness of the men and women of South Sudan; as humans, before they were tribalised by anthropology.

What I am saying here, must not be construed as an attack against the government of the RoSS; nor should it be considered as a political assault on the SPLM, as the ruling political party. I am not also inciting anybody to revolt against the government of the RoSS. All I am doing is that; I want us in the RoSS; to engage in fruitful intellectual dialogue, which ought to lead towards harmonisation of human life in the RoSS; for the prevalence of a comprehensively productive socio-economic; financial; security; political; and technological environments in the RoSS; for positive utilitarian, and communitarian purposes; and that is all I am on about here.
I must strongly reiterate here that; the RoSS is a product of rights talk as it were; and it is therefore imperative that; our group and individual political texts in the RoSS; ought to  be saturated with rights narratives; because, the RoSS is supposed to be one of those limited havens for human rights in the African continent. The RoSS came to being as a result of the pursuit of human happiness; and the maximization of the enjoyment of human rights as shields against human hurt and cruelty.
Many lives have been martyred in the RoSS since 1956; so that; we, collectively, approximate ourselves to the political point of locus; which empowers us as individuals, and groups, and communities, and tribes; to have the space in which, we can grant ourselves, the right to remain, and be, who we want to remain, and be. While we want to remain who we are, and want to be; we must also respect and celebrate the inherent heterogeneity intrinsic in us, herein in the RoSS, as the essence of the near holy doctrine of SD. Let us in tribal unison; harness this heterogeneity and positively use it as our philosophical and practical checks and balances for the attainments of the ideal RoSS; as a truly independent viable and functional modern State.
The historical political blood, in our political veins, and which is coloured, in the colours of politics of desire in dominance; and politics of desire in insurrection; must be mixed, with the blood of African fraternity; which compelled us, to die, in same trenches, for the recognition of the self, and us. Therefore; we in the RoSS, have to guard against the depletion of this African fraternity, and humanity, in us, due to our insatiable lust, for material wealth, at the expense of moral; social; cultural; spiritual; political; economic; financial; security; and human solidarities in the RoSS. The ubiquitous celebrations; of negative politics of difference and identity; within the greater society of the RoSS, is having its destructive, and dispersal effects, on the life of the nascent State, of the RoSS.  
I must warn my brothers and sisters in the RoSS; that, if we are not careful, the doctrine of SD can easily become our Scyila and Charybdis, which is a sea monster and whirlpool in Greek mythology. It is doubled dangers, in which, the avoidance of one increases the risk from the other. The doctrine of SD; the way it is being handled by us, in the RoSS, have both emancipatory and repressive dangers. When the emancipatory aspect of the doctrine of SD degenerates into blanket persecutions and bloody inquisitions; as well as the suppression of freedom of positive conscience, then, we have a grave danger in our midst, and in our body polity. If the doctrine of SD is also used, as a repressive tool, against primordial cultural and political enemies; then, we risk sliding into dangerous quagmire, of vicious cycle of primordial wars, and animosities, which verge on racial wars, in the RoSS, and this is also a grave danger, in our body polity. Therefore; we need to understand the critical positive morality of the doctrine of SD. The threshold of the doctrine of SD is always positive humanity, and this must be discovered in the RoSS.
The RoSS, as it is, is a fluid human space, populated by variant communities of perpetrators of heinous violence against, and commensurate violations of human rights of the human person. There are also variant communities of victims of these crimes and violations in the said human space. The preponderance of these communities of cruelties and miseries is fundamentally due to the fact that; we as leaders of our peoples in the RoSS; are becoming addicted to trigger-happiness as it were. We are negatively attracting the attention of the outside world as a group of human persons who at a destructive war with themselves for very trivial reasons.
The triviality of it resides in the fact that; all of us want to confine ourselves in the same tiny space for the same scarce resources however you define resource here. We need to increase the space by developing the RoSS. We need to create the same opportunities found in Juba in all the major towns of the RoSS. We need to develop the rural areas and avail some of the most rudimental services for which our people kill themselves over; and by doing so, we shall be able to save our people from killing and murdering themselves for the want of goods and services.   
I do not want to hear the rhetoric and polemics about lack of initial resources for comprehensive socio-economic and technological development of the RoSS. We have the resources. What is missing is the human and political will to use these resources for the benefit of our people. We are only eight million people. Compare this with the money income of the RoSS represented by our gross domestic product as it were. Any good first year student of development economics will tell you that, there is no reason why the peoples of the RoSS must suffer for acute want of goods and services given the abundance of comprehensive resources in the RoSS.
