Sudan Football Association official Badrelin Ibrahim has announced that Sudan's upcoming home match against Ghana in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will take place at Juba National Stadium in South Sudan.

Due to ongoing political instability in Sudan, the national team has been playing their qualifying games away from home, including matches held in Libya.

In an interview with Angel TV, Ibrahim confirmed that both Sudan's 2025 AFCON qualifiers and their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers will be hosted at the recently renovated Juba Stadium, which was inaugurated in June 2024.

Reflecting on their recent victory in an inaugural match there, Ibrahim expressed enthusiasm about playing in such a revitalized environment.

"Sudan will be playing AFCON qualifying games and also the World Cup qualifying games in South Sudan at the new Juba stadium. We are excited to play in such an environment. There was an inauguration match there where we won 3-0," said Ibrahim.

He emphasized the importance of support from both Sudanese and South Sudanese fans, believing it will significantly boost the team's morale and performance.

"The support from both the Sudanese and South Sudanese will be crucial when we host our qualifying matches there," he added.

The upcoming match against Ghana, led by former Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah, promises to be a highlight of the qualifiers.

During the draw on Thursday, July 4, 2024, Ghana was placed in Group F alongside Angola, Sudan, and Niger for the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers.

Appiah's Sudanese team aims to build on their strong World Cup qualifying campaign and secure their 10th AFCON appearance. Despite a storied history, Sudan has faced challenges in recent AFCON editions, last appearing in 2021 and exiting in the Group Stage.

In contrast, Ghana, seeking their fifth AFCON title, continues their pursuit to reclaim continental glory under coach Otto Addo. Their last AFCON victory dates back to 1982, making their campaign a pivotal moment for national pride and footballing aspirations.
