CAIRO – 9 May 2024: South Sudanese Minister of General Education and Instruction Awut Deng Achuil and Egyptian Ambassador to Juba Moataz Abdel Qader inaugurated Monday a technical high school in Wau city, which is the capital of Western Bahr el Ghazal province lying northwestern the country.
The school was built by Egypt's Arab Contractors Corporation, and its teachers are Egyptians in the framework of cooperation between the two countries in the education sector. As such, the South Sudanese minister expressed aspiration that the two states would join forces to introduce similar schools in other provinces.
In the same developmental context, the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources revealed in March that it had begun constructing eight solar-powered groundwater pumping stations in South Sudan.
The ministry pointed out that 20 of those had been established over the past few years to serve 100,000 South Sudanese citizens. That is in addition to four rainwater harvesting dams.
