K Hot shares challenges living in Kakuma and Canada
K Hot and his family relocated to the Kakuma refugee camp when he was two years old.
Looking back at years spent at Kakuma, K Hot disclosed that they faced a myriad of challenges, including a
“There was a lack of education infrastructure, including boarding schools. The classes were overcrowded, with around 300 pupils in one room.
We also lacked inadequate desks so we sat on stones under trees," he told TUKO.co.ke.
According to K Hot, they also had to contend with the high temperatures in the arid region.
After living in Kenya for years, the artiste got an opportunity to relocate to Canada to study. However, living abroad also came with a different set of challenges.
“Finding jobs or multi-tasking jobs and school, exploitation by the employers, finding accommodation and homesickness.
We also face racism sometimes.”
The Capital hitmaker disclosed that his return to South Sudan would be dependent on whether the country would find stability.
“I pray that my motherland finds peace. The music industry is far behind since it is a young country in terms of development and internet connectivity, meaning it’s hard for artistes to get views on music platforms
It’s frustrating, but with time I hope it will change.”
K Hot, who boasts of collaborations with Exray, Ssaru and AJ of the Buruklyn Boys disclosed he has numerous projects in the pipeline.
“I have international collaborations with Jamaica’s Konshen and Charlie Black.”
Aside from music, the 22-year-old is also a philanthropist.
