Khartoum -- The National Congress Party (NCP) has described former US Envoy’s Andrew Natsios’ call on the US Administration and the international community to arm South Sudan against Sudan as disclosure of real intentions of this Administration toward Sudan.
Dr. Qutbi Al-Mahdi, NCP leading figure, said that the scenarios that happened in Palestine resembles what is now happening in South Sudan which aimed at controlling the African region, adding that the Oslo and Naivasha agreements are alike because the purpose was not to achieve peace in Palestine and Sudan. He pointed out that Natsios’ stances when representing the US Administration were loyal to Zionism.
Al-Mahdi told Sudan Vision that Natsios’ statements expose American intentions toward Sudan. He said South Sudan does not need weapons, it rather needs services and that calling for arming it indicates carrying out their plot to control the region.
He said what is required is to increase national sense and informing the political forces and civil society organizations that the plot is not against the ruling regime in the country but the people of Sudan, stressing the necessity to unify all sectors of the Sudanese society who should realize that their main battle is to abort this plot and working for securing the country not to struggle for toppling the regime and fall into the arms of forces wanting to establish hegemony over Sudan.
The NCP leading figure said that call for arming the SPLA is part of a plot aimed at destabilizing Sudan, affirming Natsios’ involvement in carrying out this strategy, especially after his accusing Sudan at various occasions.
Al-Mahdi stated that the Oslo agreement was meant to confiscate Arab land therefore they armed Israel because they realized that military strategy was in its favor, and that they want to implement it in South Sudan to execute their schemes in the region.
Natsios in an essay published by The Washington Post said that the reasons of the conflict were complicated, but the solution is “We have to arm South Sudan just like we supplied arms to support Israel, at the same time, that will not put our troops in danger because practically we cannot help bring about peace in the region.” Natsios added that South Sudan, which is less than one year old, is suffering from its war with Sudan due to imbalance in military might.
“During the recent hostilities South Sudan had no any air force or anti-aircraft weapons though it has good army on the ground with adequate motives,” Natsios said.
In his essay, the envoy points out that the sole way to end negotiations with Sudan and boost peace is give South Sudan suitable tools such US flights and anti-air-craft weapons.
The US provides above estimated $30 million dollars in aid in the field of technical military support with the backing the Democratic and Republican parties at the Congress to South Sudan army since 2006.
Natsios states that he was a witness to translating this program into actions, adding “The US can supply military support with the consent of the UN Security Council and the African Union.”
