Sudan will evacuate its citizens who are stranded in Ukraine through Poland and Romania, according to a report by the state news agency SUNA citing Sudan’s embassy in Kyiv.
Authorities in Poland, the embassy said, have permitted Sudanese nationals in Ukraine to leave through its territories.
“Coordination has also been made with Romanian authorities to allow the crossing of Sudanese in Ukraine,” the embassy added.
Additionally, the embassy appealed to all Sudanese nationals in Ukraine to register their data to speed up their evacuation from the eastern European nation.
However, there is no official data on the number of Sudanese nationals in Ukraine.
There are thousands of Africans stranded in Ukraine, but evacuation efforts have proved difficult as authorities have closed its airspace to civilian flights, including from Kyiv airport, citing the high safety risk.
