South Sudan (MNN) — Bibles For The World[1] plans to distribute thousands of New Testaments to children in South Sudan through a new ministry partnership.
South Sudan is the youngest sovereign country in the world. The nation has a large Christian population. President John Pudaite explains how Bibles For The World received this opportunity for Scripture distribution throughout the country.
“The minister of education is a strong believer in Jesus Christ. He invited our national partners to provide their curriculum, which is a Bible-based, early discipleship curriculum, to all the public schools the government schools in South Sudan,” he says.

“The national partners reached out to a number of international ministries looking for help [with] this project. When we heard about it, we [were] very excited to see this door opening for the message of Jesus Christ to be brought to the children of South Sudan.”
Partners For The Word
Bibles For The World’s partner, The Mailbox Club, will distribute workbooks in the schools. They asked Bibles For The World to provide New Testaments, enabling students to study God’s Word.
“The curriculum, of course, has Scripture throughout, but we want to provide at least a New Testament to the children so they can follow along, read for themselves, [and] take it home for their families also to read,” Pudaite says.
“It’s something we’ve always tried to do, [coming] alongside the national partners – the indigenous church ministries – to help strengthen their ministry by providing them with God’s Word.”
With schools in South Sudan reopening soon, Pudaite hopes the project will move forward quickly.
“They have already enrolled 360,000 children to use this curriculum in the upcoming school session. We pray that by God’s grace will be able to provide New Testaments to those children, perhaps early in 2021, as things really get off the ground and rolling.”
Prayer and Support

“I’d like to listeners to join us in thanking the Lord for providing Christians in government in South Sudan who are willing to step up [and] use their position and their influence, to say ‘We need the Word of God in our schools. We need the foundation, the principles, the morals, and the teachings of Jesus Christ in our schools.’ Pray that they will remain strong in their position and their faith even as they take these bold steps,” he says.
“The enemy will not be happy with this, so I’m sure that he’s going to put a lot of roadblocks and try to disturb and discourage us along the way. We will ask the listeners [to] bath this in prayer, for God’s continued guidance to the partnership as we try to reach out to the 3 million children in South Sudan.”
