SPLM-N-Third Front
The Sudanese government and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North-Third Front yesterday signed an agreement on security arrangements in Juba.
Dhieu Mathok, spokesman for the South Sudanese mediation team, said in a statement after the signing yesterday that the rebel group was present in Juba since the beginning of the negotiation process in September last year. They did not have the opportunity however to participate in the peace negotiations, as the participation of the parties at the Juba negotiations platform was agreed on earlier.
The two parties agreed on the necessity to settle the security arrangement clause with the Popular Movement-Third Front, which Mathok said is very large and spread over the border strip between Sudan and South Sudan.
Defence Minister Maj Gen Yasin Ibrahim said that the Sudan Armed Forces is able to fully absorb them, in particular in West Kordofan, and East and South Darfur.
