JUBA, April 18 (Xinhua) -- South Sudan on Friday received the second batch of medical supplies donated by the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

The donation included five ventilators, 18,900 swabs, 18,912 testing kits, 3,800 proactive cloths, 3,800 face shields, 9,500 gloves and 36 thermometer guns.

The first round of donation delivered in late March comprised of 100,000 face masks, 20,000 test kits and 1,000 protective suits.

The country's ministry of health has confirmed its first COVID-19 case on April 5 and the number has since risen to four.

In a bid to curb the spread of the virus, the country's ministry of health has imposed a number of preventive measures, including a ban on social gatherings, closure of businesses, cancellation of domestic and international flights and closure of all land borders, among others. Enditem
