South Sudan refugees at El Liri camp in Sudan’s South Kordofan State complained of lack of water and food amid spread of diseases.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, several refugees from South Sudan said they are experiencing scarce supplies of drinking water at El Liri camp.
A refugee, only identified as Philip, said the camp lacks health services, food and drinking water, which exacerbated the conditions of the South Sudanese refugees.
He urged all parties that signed the revitalized peace agreement in September 2018 to resolve the outstanding issues and form a transitional government in 2020 so that refugees can return home.
"We are suffering here in El Liri camp and I am appealing to the leaders to bring peace so that we can return to our country,” Philip said.
Another refugee, only identified as John, said they travel long distances to collect water and the situation has become unbearable. The refugee further said nothing has been done by aid agencies despite their complaints.
"Our women and children are suffering from thirst. Our concern is that peace should be achieved so that we return home,” he noted.
