Confederation of African Football (CAF) has eliminated South Sudan clubs from participating in the the continental competitions after failing to show up for their matches of the first leg of the preliminary round of the Champions League and Confederation Cup last weekend.
South Sudan sides Al Salam Wau and Hilal Juba failed to show up in their scheduled games CAF Champions League 2018 and Confederations Cup.
Al Salam Wau were due to face Saint George of Ethiopia in the Total CAF Champions League 2018 in Addis Ababa on Sunday, while Hilal Juba were scheduled to play US Ben Guerdane of Tunisia in the Total CAF Confederations Cup on Saturday.
"Consequently, Al Salam Wau FC and Al Hilal Juba are both considered losers and hence eliminated from the competitions they are engaged respectively," CAF Deputy General Secretary Anthony Baffoe said in a letter addressed to the South Sudan Football Association.
