The UNHCR says there are 131,000 registered South Sudanese in Uganda. Refugees started going to Uganda via Nimule in January 2014, immediately after the December 15, 2013 crisis in South Sudan. According to the refugees they are leaving home because of economic and food insecurity, along with continued violence in the country.
