Mahatma Ghandhi once said and I quote "When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always".
Achievements of Gen. Majak Akec since he became IGP of SSNPS.
When you tell the truth, you don't have to remember everything because truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; what matters is to discover them.
Gen. Majak Akec Malok, the current IGP of the Republic of South Sudan, man who has this country at heart and patriot who went to the bush liberating his people has done exactly what they were fighting for with Arabs in Khartoum.
The following are his achievements in the docket of Inspector General of Police ( IGP) since he took-over office.
Gen. Majak Akec prioritized training as a means of producing qualified and quality police forces capable of handling crimes and other related matters in the country.
The IGP managed to train and graduated three batches and that is batch five (5) batch twenty (20) and batch twenty one (21). All these batches were both Non-commissioned officers (NCOs) and officers and other ranks.
As we speak there is ongoing training for batch twenty two (22) and recent graduation of Batch six (6) in Ror-cuol Akol. This coupled with continuous refreshments of officers, NCOs and other ranks. There are 275 of different ranks trained abroad starting from Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Sudan and Ethiopia at different capacities in different units in South Sudan National Police Services.
A) ASSETS of SSNPS under IGP Gen. Majak.
1) Cars:
Given the spirit of teamwork and culture of respect for authority and cooperation within the public's offices, Gen. Majak Akec Malok managed to acquire a lot of assets compared to any IGP since its inception.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit after he found out that a man who loves this country, less corrupt and loyal to him is at helm of National Police Service, he donated 20 land cruisers. Minister of Finance and planning donated 3 Thatcher vehicles, business man Obaj William donated 2 cars, Businessman Abdhalla 6 cars, Hon. Tut Gatluak Manimene donated 1 Thatcher car, Gen. Jok Riak 2 cars and UNDP donated 3 cars.
This makes up a total of 37 cars for National Police Services and no single cash used by the Ministry of Interior to buy these cars. All these were achieved because of good rapport existing between IGP and other government institutions. This also includes several promises from many South Sudanese who have their country at heart.
2) Uniform:
During the visit of IGP to Sudan, his counterpart the IGP of Sudan freely contributed 7,000 green police uniforms in which 5,000 arrived and distributed already while 2,000 are to be delivered soon as COVID-19 pandemic reduced.
On a similar note, Uganda's IGP during batch graduation contributed 3,000 uniforms to South Sudan National Police Services.
China contributed 9,000 pieces from their own uniforms and that is black type you usually see on our service men and women of this great Republic.
UNPD renovated the Rejaf training centre and Rumbur training centre that are furnished and fully operational.
B) Crime Reduction in Juba city and SSD at large:
1) Culprits.
Dozens of those who committed crimes and serial criminals known as unknown gunmen have been apprehended and unknown gunmen became known now. Many of these criminals are already in different cells, some convicted while the rest will be convicted soon. Few who are still at large are being trailed and they will be apprehended anywhere within territorial jurisdiction of this great country. On the same note, as we all know landcruiser almost became untouchable because of criminal hunting for it, the well trained national police personnel managed to recover 37 stolen land cruisers and handover them to their owners through court's processes.
C) MoU signed under Gen. Majak Akec.
South Sudan National Police Services signed many MoUs. In these two years alone, the SSNPS managed to sign MoUs with Sudan, Uganda and Rwanda.
All these MoUs are benefiting South Sudanese largely. For example, between South Sudan and Rwanda we have waived Visa and one can travel without paying for Visa and the same thing with Tanzania you can get a free visa on arrival.
Also with Kenya, a child below 18 years, is free visa while an adult gets a visa on arrival.
Corridors openings are done and soon after COVID-19 it will be operationalized with Sudan for business and travelling of citizens to resume.
In conclusion, great achievers are envied by perceived rivalries because they feel threatened by their performances.
-Bangambiki Habyarimana one time said and I quote " Did you know you could destroy dragons? Dragons are not actually real, they just roar to scare you away from your goals. In fact they are afraid of determined heroes, they take flight at their approach".
