The total salary package for this position is circa $54,327 - $58,843 USD including basic salary, hardship allowance and per diem.

MAG has been working in South Sudan since 2004, with approximately 130 national staff and 16 international staff MAG currently operates and supports 14 teams across four regions. Over 600 suspected or confirmed dangerous areas remain in South Sudan. MAG has made significant progress in South Sudan in implementing a quality and responsive humanitarian mine action programme to reduce the risks from remnants of conflict, however much more remains to be done.

MAG deploys multi skilled clearance teams with the capability to release suspected and confirmed contaminated land, destroy all reported landmines and ERW and unofficial stockpiles for the benefit of communities across South Sudan. MAGs Community Liaison teams work both independently and alongside the clearance teams collecting dangerous area reports, and providing Risk Education to at-risk populations.

We are seeking a Programme Officer to support our commitment in South Sudan to saving lives and building futures for those affected by conflict. Reporting to the Country Director, the Programme Officer’s role involves a wide range of responsibilities including proposal development, donor reporting, grant monitoring, management and administration, contract compliance and information management. You will therefore need to be able to demonstrate broad experience in most of these areas of work. The ability to produce written material of a very high quality and prioritise a heavy workload to meet deadlines is essential.

In addition the successful candidate will have experience of working overseas, preferably within the region and within a challenging environment, and be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently. Knowledge of the Humanitarian Mine Action sector is not a requirement but could be an asset. You will also need to be able to demonstrate awareness of personal security, cultural sensitivities and a diplomatic manner.
