BEIJING, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- China sent a 13-member team of police officers to the Republic of South Sudan for United Nations peacekeeping missions, officials said.
The team, sent to South Sudan Friday, came from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in south China, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
It was the second such team to be sent to South Sudan from China for U.N. peacekeeping missions.
Four members of the current team have participated in previous U.N. peacekeeping missions, and the team leader, Wen Long, served in three such missions before the current one.
The team received training on international laws, first aid, driving, English and shooting as well as orientations on the situation of the task region.
The first team of police officers from southwest China is scheduled to return Nov. 13.
