Chinese ambassador to South Sudan Ma Qiang and South Sudan’s Central Equatoria Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony met in Juba on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the two officials discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, focusing on improving public service delivery, developing human resources, and empowering young people.

Both unanimously pledged to deepen cooperation in education, capacity building, and infrastructure to promote local development.

Mr Ma reaffirmed China’s readiness to work with the state government on practical initiatives in education, infrastructure, and human resource development to improve people’s well-being.

He added that expanding exchange programmes and training opportunities would help strengthen local capacity and accelerate the state’s socio-economic development.

Mr Anthony said Central Equatoria attaches great importance to its partnership with the Chinese embassy, particularly in projects that directly benefit local communities.

According to him, investing in education and human capital is essential to achieving sustainable development and equipping young people with the skills needed to contribute to the state’s future.

The governor added that the state planned to enhance the capacity of its public workforce through targeted training programmes while expanding scholarship opportunities for local youth to pursue higher education in China.

Both sides also agreed to explore new areas of cooperation that aligned with the state’s development priorities.
