BEIJING, Feb. 2 -- The 16th Chinese Peacekeeping Horizontal Engineering Company to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (WAU) was deployed to the Kuajok Base on January 29, 2026, preparing to carry out the repair work of the main supply route from Kuajok to Turalei and Abiemnhom, as well as other engineering support tasks.
The supply route, covering a distance of 150 kilometers, is a vital supply line in South Sudan and serves as a lifeline for material support and humanitarian assistance of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).
In light of the characteristics of the mission area, the Chinese peacekeepers have conducted targeted training on road repair, emergency security, and protection for hot work environments. They have also carried out inspections and maintenance on all engineering equipment to ensure a 100% serviceability rate.
